How can hearing impaired callers use 911?

Many hearing impaired persons have a TDD (Telecommunicating Device for the Deaf), a keyboard hooked into a telephone. They simply type instead of talk. The 911 dispatchers also have a TDD and can type back to the caller.

Our center is also able to receive text messages to 911. If your phone provider allows, you may send us a text message. Our dispatchers will be able to communicate with you via text just as effectively.
