August Events in the Virginia Room!
We're happy to announce two events going on the Virginia Room in August. Preliminary information is listed below; be on the lookout for flyers and more information in the very near future! As always, contact us at (540) 853-2073 or email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Roanoke Valley in the Great War
The Virginia Room is partnering with Virginia Tech on a project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of US involvement in World War I. From now through the spring of 2017 (and beyond) we'll be showing you new resources and hosting programming on the effects of this war on our region, both with soldiers abroad and families here at home. The first step of this is a digital collection being organized by Virginia Tech student Daniel Newcomb. Daniel will be at the Virginia Room on the following days and times to demonstrate how to use the digital collection (roanokevalleygreatwar.vtlibraries.org) and how you can contribute by adding information to the site. Drop by any time he's here to get a demo, ask questions, or tell him about your ancestors who were impacted by the war.
