Retirement Announcement - Neil Holland, Building Commissioner
It is with heartfelt gratitude for his service that we announce the retirement of
Neil Holland, Building Commissioner, City of Roanoke.
His last day is Monday, July 31, 2023.
Neil M. Holland began his distinguished career with the City of Roanoke on January 29, 1985, when he was hired as the Cross Connection Inspector. Neil was promoted to building inspector in 1989, to combination inspector in 1995, to deputy building commissioner in 2006, and to Acting Building Commissioner in 2013. He was appointed by the City Manager as Building Commissioner in 2014 and has served in this position since. He has earned the respect, esteem, and gratitude of all who have worked alongside him and will be celebrated with an open house on his last day, Monday, July 31st, from 2 – 4pm at the Municipal Building – 3rd Floor North. The public is welcome to drop in to share well-wishes and memories with Neil!
For continuity of services to citizens of the City of Roanoke, Tommy Hahn, Deputy Building Official has been appointed to the role of Acting Building Official effective August 1, 2023.
