On Tuesday, Jan. 8, the City of Roanoke, in partnership with the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, Inc. and Freedom First Credit Union, will conduct a kick-off meeting to highlight the process that will be used to develop and implement Financial Empowerment Centers in the city. The meeting will be held at the Salvation Army facilities located at 724 Dale Ave. SE, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the general public is invited to attend. Participants will learn more about financial empowerment centers, the model used by the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, Inc., national and local successes with similar efforts, and how they can participate in developing and implementing this effort. This meeting is the result of a planning grant the city secured from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, Inc. in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies.
