The following are updates from the City of Roanoke on the impact of the flash flooding event which occurred on Thursday, Oct. 11:
- Roanoke Parks and Recreation reports that Rivers Edge North was not affected by Thursday’s flash flooding event and all GO Fest activities for that area will be held. However, the Rivers Edge South area was impacted by flooding and all activities planned for that area, including family camping, have been cancelled. GO Fest will still have the general camping area where it was held last year on Maher Field. Also, all events along the Roanoke River Greenway have been cancelled. Citizens are encouraged to check the "Roanoke GO Outside Festival" Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GOfestival/) and website (https://www.roanokegofest.com/) for updates.
- Valley Metro buses are back on regular routes with the exception of Tanglewood Mall.
- The Wiley Drive Bridge is closed due to the effects of flash flooding, and city staff is currently assessing parks and greenway conditions to determine any closings necessary. Announcements will be made when this information is available.
