[ARCHIVED] Wiley Drive Bridge Temporarily Closed to Vehicular Traffic

The City of Roanoke wants citizens to know that the heavy rainfall over the past weekend has created additional damage to the upper low-water bridge on Wiley Drive. The bridge is closed to vehicular traffic until repairs are completed. Currently, pedestrians and bicyclists can use the bridge, but will be directed to the vehicular side of the bridge.  Repairs to the bridge are expected to begin as early as Oct. 4. While repairs are underway, both lanes of this Wiley Drive bridge will be closed to all users of the greenway. On the weekend of Oct. 13-14, the bridge will remain closed to vehicles while pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to use the vehicle lane on the bridge. Weather permitting, the bridge is expected to be fully reopened by Oct. 19.
