[ARCHIVED] Workshop to Focus on Helping Business Owners Sell to the Government

ROANOKE, VA – The Virginia Department of Small Business & Supplier Diversity (SBSD), the City of Roanoke Department of Economic Development, Roanoke County Economic Development and Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP) have teamed up to offer Selling to the Government, a free workshop targeting regional small business owners and entrepreneurs.

The class, taught by Angela Barber with the SBSD and Thomas Miglas with Virginia PTAP, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Roanoke South County Library located at 6303 Merriman Road in Roanoke from  9 to 11:30 am.  Coffee and light refreshments will be offered.

“We are pleased to be working with these agencies to bring this workshop to the region’s business owners who may be unaware of this opportunity to increase their sales,’ says Jill Loope, Roanoke County Director of Economic Development. "This untapped, overlooked market has the potential to significantly impact revenues.”

“The time invested in attending this workshop may be the best investment you can make in your business," states Rob Ledger, Manager of the City of Roanoke's Department of Economic Development. "Learning how to open doors to a new market for your product or service may be just the knowledge you need for your business to succeed in the future.”

Selling to the Government presents opportunities and steps for connecting to the $8 billion government marketplace offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the larger federal market. Participants will learn how to access reports to identify agency targets, their spend history, and the steps to register with the state and federal governments, as well as Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification.

In order to attend this free workshop, visit https://www.sbsd.virginia.gov/events/selling-to-the-government-roanoke-virginia/ to register.  Limited space is available, so interested individuals are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
