Roanoke Street Closing Updates

[ARCHIVED] Downtown – Weekend Street Closure Update

ROANOKE, VA – The following streets will be closed on Friday and Saturday, December 8 & 9 for the following events in Downtown Roanoke:

  1. Dickens of a Christmas: the following streets will be closed on Friday between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

From 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM:

  • Market Street, between Salem Avenue and Church Avenue
  • Wall Street, between Salem Avenue and Campbell Avenue
  • Kirk Avenue, between Jefferson Street and Market Street
  • Campbell Avenue, between Williamson Road and the entrance of the Center in the Square Garage
  • Luck Avenue, between Jefferson Street and 1ST Street, SW

From 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM:

  • Market Street, between Salem Avenue and Norfolk Avenue

From 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM:

  • Church Avenue, between Williamson Road and Jefferson Street.
  • Salem Avenue, between Jefferson Street and Williamson Road

Due to this event, on-street parking may be temporarily restricted. 


2. Jingle Bell Run 2017: the following streets will be closed on Saturday between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

  • Williamson Road, between Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street
  • Walnut Avenue, between Jefferson Street and Hamilton Terrace


3. City of Roanoke Christmas Parade: the following streets will be closed from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  • Jefferson Street, between Campbell Avenue and Maple Avenue
  • Campbell Avenue, between 1st Street and Williamson Road
  • Williamson Road southbound, between Salem Avenue and Church Avenue (6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)


All parking lots and garages will remain accessible. Valley Metro buses will run on their usual schedules. Trip planning on Valley Metro buses is available via Google Transit at www.valleymetro.com. 

No detours will be established

         

Signs & Barricades:

The City of Roanoke will furnish all barricades, signs, cones, etc.
