[ARCHIVED] 10th STREET CLOSURE BETWEEN WILLIAMSON ROAD AND ROUND HILL AVENUE

ROANOKE, VA – Utility work on the next phase of construction on 10th Street in Roanoke has begun and continue for several weeks this spring.

A sewer line installation will require closures for through traffic on 10th Street a city block at time with the first closure planned for Tuesday, April 25, to close the section between Williamson Road and Round Hill Avenue.

The city block closures for through traffic will then continue south toward Andrews Road as the utility line work proceeds.  Local traffic for homes and businesses will still be able to use 10th Street.

Message boards will be in place to alert motorists to the upcoming closures.  Through traffic will need to seek alternate routes.

A “Pardon our Dust” meeting for representatives from the Virginia Department of Transportation and the project contractor to discuss the project is being planned for Wednesday, May 17, at Villages at Lincoln Community Center located at 1801 Dunbar Street, NW, in Roanoke from 5 to 7 p.m.

This project is the second of two phases for improvements to 10th Street. Work on the first phase, a $12-million project from south of Fairfax Avenue to just north of Andrews Road, began in summer 2016 and is anticipated to be completed in summer 2018.
