[ARCHIVED] Roanoke Expected to Experience Moderate Flooding

Moderate flooding of the Roanoke River is expected to occur based on current rainfall amounts but based on historical data, no homes or businesses will be affected. The National Weather Service is expecting a crest of approximately 14ft. Earlier today, Roanoke Fire-EMS' Swift Water Rescue Team helped two adults and a dog to safety from their home as flood waters were encroaching on their front porch. As of 5pm on September 29, 2015 the current roads are closed:
-Bennington St., SE
-Crestmoor SW at both sides of Cravens Creek, SW

Remember - never drive around street barricades!
