[ARCHIVED] Primary Streets Clear, Work Continues on Secondary Streets

Roanoke, VA – As of this morning, Sunday, Jan. 8, primary city streets remain in good shape. Crews continue to work on secondary and residential streets, but packed snow and refreezing may prevent plows from getting down to pavement until temperatures increase. Because residential streets are still slick, citizens are asked to stay off roads unless travel is unavoidable, and to use caution if you must drive on city streets.

Calls or texts to 911 should be reserved for medical, fire, or police emergencies only. Please do not call 911 or 211 for specific information related to snow removal. Instead, residents should call the Citizen Call Center at 853-2000, Option 8 for general information on the status of road conditions or to report a street that needs to be plowed.
