Roanoke, VA – Installation of a new software system will make it necessary to close the city’s Permit Center Monday, Oct. 17, through Thursday, Oct. 20. The Permit Center will reopen on Friday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m.
Staff’s highest priority is to minimize inconvenience and delays. While the Permit Center is closed, there will be a drop box for applications outside the Permit Center office. As soon as the new system is operational, staff will begin to process those applications in the order they were received.
The project involves importing more than 15 years of historic data and active permit information into the new system. Once the import is complete, testing will be conducted to ensure that data remains complete and accurate, especially for active permits.
Given the extensive nature of this transition, the city appreciates your patience and understanding regarding any delays that may be encountered in the processing of permit applications, inspections, or related processes. For more details about what to expect during the closure, visit the city's website at http://www.roanokeva.gov/2101/Permit-Center-Closure.
