[ARCHIVED] City Announces Plans for July 5 Fireworks

Roanoke, VA – The fireworks show originally scheduled for July 4 will occur tonight at 9:30 p.m. at River’s Edge. Music and food previously scheduled for Monday has been cancelled.

City officials have worked with Valley Metro and shuttle service will be provided from the Elmwood Garage in downtown Roanoke beginning at 8 p.m. The last shuttle pickup at the Elmwood Garage is scheduled for 9 p.m. After the fireworks show, shuttles will return patrons to the garage. Parking is unavailable at Virginia Western Community College. Drivers should not use the parking garages near Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

At 6 p.m., Reserve Avenue in Roanoke will close in preparation for the show. Wiley Drive will remain open throughout the event.
