ROANOKE, VA – The Western Virginia Water Authority will be working around the clock this weekend at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Williamson Road. Work will begin at 7:00 PM Friday April 8th and is expected to continue throughout the weekend, ending no later than 6:00 AM on Monday morning, April 11. During this time, all westbound through lanes of Orange Ave approaching Williamson and the northbound lanes of Williamson, north of Orange will be closed. The westbound left turn will be used to carry some through traffic and detours will be established to direct drivers away from the intersection. Left turns to northbound and southbound Williamson Road will be prohibited. This work is essential to address very critical maintenance needs on an aging water main. Please be careful as you travel in this area this weekend and use alternate routes if at all possible.
Detour - Alternate Routes:
A detour will be established on Plantation Rd and Pocahontas Ave, and on Kimball Ave and Rutherford Ave.
