[ARCHIVED] Potential for Severe Weather in Roanoke

There is a RARE Moderate (Level 4 of 5) risk of severe weather across much of our area this afternoon and early this evening.  This is the first Moderate Risk in August for our area since 2005.
Storms capable of producing widespread damaging winds and a few tornadoes, as well as large hail will impact our mountain counties between 1 and 4 pm, then areas along and east of the Blue Ridge from 3 to 8 pm.
These storms will be capable of producing winds greater than 70 MPH which will result in numerous power outages and some structural damage, 
Please make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings. Identify now where you shelter when warnings are issued.
