Roanoke, VA - Registrations are now being accepted for the City of Roanoke's annual Leadership College, a nine-week community leadership program scheduled to begin on Thursday March 17, and continue on each Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. through May 12.
Classes are interactive and practical, and include an engaging series of discussions, lectures, role-plays, and team-building activities that help participants:
• Understand city procedures and policies
• Learn how to access city services
• Personally meet those who provide city services
• Learn best practices in organizing your community
• Gain basic conflict resolution skills
The goal of the Leadership College is to increase residents' knowledge of city government and assist them in becoming a reliable source of information for their neighbors. Some past Leadership College participants have gone on to become active in their neighborhood organizations, serve on Council-appointed Boards and Commissions, and even run for election to City Council.
Enrollment in the Leadership College is free, but is open to residents of the City of Roanoke and its employees. Space is limited and reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
For additional information on the Leadership College or to register online, visit the city's website at www.roanokeva.gov/leadershipcollege, or call Neighborhood Services Coordinator Bob Clement at 853-5210 who can also mail a registration form to you.
