City of Roanoke Offices to Close for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Observance on Jan. 17

The City reminds residents that offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday. In addition, all City library branches will be closed on Jan. 17, 2022, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As a result, all residential and commercial solid waste collection will be on an "A" week recycling, bulk and brush collection schedule and will be delayed one day for the entire week.

Residential/Commercial: 

  • Monday–Trash, “A” week single-stream recycling, bulk and brush will be collected on Tuesday
  • Tuesday– Trash, “A” week single-stream recycling, bulk and brush will be collected on Wednesday
  • Wednesday–Trash, “A” week single-stream recycling, bulk and brush will be collected on Thursday
  • Thursday– rash, “A” week single-stream recycling, bulk and brush will be collected on Friday

The next Roanoke City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber and livestreamed on the City's Facebook page. Please note that the 6 p.m. Roanoke City Public School Board Meeting has been postponed. The rescheduled date will be announced.
