[ARCHIVED] City Offices to Close for New Year’s Day Holiday

The City reminds residents that City of Roanoke offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. In addition, all City library branches will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, for the New Year’s Day holiday.

The collection of trash, recycling, bulk items, and brush for the week following the New Year’s Day holiday (Jan. 3-6, 2022), will remain on the regular schedule. With the 2021 Christmas Holiday Season winding down and a New Year quickly approaching, it's time to properly dispose of Christmas trees. The City’s Solid Waste Management Division will be collecting your Christmas trees for the next several weeks, along with your scheduled bulk and brush items. Simply place your undecorated tree (remove all bulbs, garland, and tinsel) at the curb where you set out your bulk and brush items for collection, and Solid Waste crews will collect your tree. Do not place trees in the alleys for collection.
