Roanoke City Council will hold a public hearing on the Recommended FY2022 Budget and the Proposed Real Property Tax on Monday, May 24, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Council Chamber. The General Fund budget includes revenues and expenditures totaling $307,630,000, addressing seven priorities established by City Council: Education, Community Safety, Human Services, Infrastructure, Livability, Good Government, and Economy. City Council members will meet in person in the City Council Chamber, observing all recommended COVID-19 safety protocols. However, the Council Chamber will not be accessible to the general public during the public hearing. Instead, the meeting will be made available to the public via broadcast live on RVTV Cox Channel 3 and livestreamed on the City’s Facebook page.
Members of the community wishing to address the City Council at this session are required to participate virtually by phone via Zoom or via email at [email protected]. Speakers will be allotted three minutes each. To participate by Zoom, citizens must submit the online form found here. The form must be received by the City Clerk's Office by 12 p.m. Noon, on May 24, 2021. Each form is time-stamped when submitted. Those who submit forms after the deadline will not be allowed to speak at the meeting.
