Roanoke City Council established the Equity and Empowerment Advisory Board to advance the City's efforts to promote equity and empower its residents. The work of the Board is guided by provisions of Roanoke’s Comprehensive Plan, City Plan 2040, which includes specific priorities established through the focus on Interwoven Equity. To further these efforts, the Board has formed committees centered on each of the five Interwoven Equity priority areas: Trust, Break the Cycle of Poverty, Neighborhood Choice, Inclusive Culture, and Service Delivery. The Board is interested in including three to five community members on each of these committees.
If you are a resident of Roanoke and interested in serving on one of the committees, please email your interest to [email protected] or call Angie O'Brien in the City Manager's Office at 540-853-2333 by Noon on Feb. 24. Selections for each of the Committees will be made by the Board at its March 4 meeting.
Additional information about the Board may be found on the City’s website. Information about the Interwoven Equity components of the Comprehensive Plan may be found at this link.
If you have questions, please contact Angie O’Brien at 853-2333, or send her an email at angela.o’[email protected].
