Effective Tuesday, Sept. 1, walk-up service for DMV Select in the City Treasurer’s Office at the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building will be discontinued, and services will be offered by appointment only. This change is necessary to address the overwhelming volume of transactions experienced by staff in the Treasurer’s Office as the result of the limited hours of operation at local DMV locations in response to COVID-19.
The City Treasurer’s Office has processed thousands of DMV Select transactions since re-opening in July. While the Office recognizes these services are important to residents due to limited hours at DMV locations, it also has to be practical. DMV Select services are performed by City Treasurer’s Office employees, who also have the job of processing City business such as tax payments, real estate, etc. Right now, these tellers are not able to keep up with the volume of transactions. Currently, customers are waiting up to three hours for DMV transactions at the Municipal Building, and this is not good customer service for clients or for staff.
The Treasurer’s Office apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause, but is enacting this change as the best solution for its employees, as well as its customers. DMV Select will close Aug. 24-31 in preparation for appointments.

*Note: Only two transactions will be permitted per DMV Select appointment
Transactions available are:
- Vehicle Titles & Registration
- License Plates
- Permits & Placards
- Transcript Requests
- Voter Registration Applications
DMV Select does not issue or renew Driver’s Licenses, Learner’s Permits or Identification Cards.
