Notice of Public Comment Period for Amendment to 5 Year Consolidated Plan





Notice is hereby given that on Monday, April 20, 2020, the City Council of Roanoke, Virginia, will meet in open session to consider an amendment to the approved 2019-2020 Annual Update to the 5 Year Consolidated Plan. This amendment is necessary to accept and appropriate Emergency Solutions Grants in the amount of $298,507 from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as part of the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) to address immediate and urgent needs related to combating the effects of the COVID-19 public emergency occurring in the City of Roanoke’s homeless population. The additional funding will be directed to Roanoke Trust House to provide temporary housing and quarantine homeless persons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All persons shall be afforded an opportunity to submit comments and state their views concerning this amendment during a public comment period that has been shortened to five days by HUD due to the emergency. The public comment period shall commence Monday, April 13, 2020, and conclude Saturday, April 18, 2020, at 11:59 p.m.  Written comments of interested persons will be received by the HUD Community Resources Administrator at any time prior to the close of the comment period.  City Council is expected to take action on the amendment during their regular session to be held on April 20, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
