[ARCHIVED] City Modifies Process for Receiving Funding Requests from Non-Profit Organizations

The City has modified its process to receive requests for funding from non-profit organizations. Over the past several years, the Management and Budget Division, together with the Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB) and the Roanoke Arts Commission (RAC) have conducted a budget kickoff session for any non-profit organization that intends to request funding in the upcoming budget cycle through one of these two committees. However, for the upcoming start to the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 budget season, the committees that receive the applications will use the approaches outlined below.

For non-profit arts and cultural organizations who plan to request funding from the City through the RAC, attendance at a Dec. 6 workshop is required.  The workshop will take place at 9 a.m. in the EOC Conference Room (Room 159) on the first floor of the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building at 215 Church Ave. S.W.  Contact Arts and Cultural Coordinator Douglas Jackson for more information at 540-853-5652 or [email protected].  As in past years, funding applications will be submitted on-line through the United Way's e-cImpact system with this budget year's deadline being noon, on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.

For non-profit human services organizations who plan to request funding from the City through the HSAB, there will be no mandatory workshop this year. Organizations who have requested funding in the past from this committee will be notified by letter of the steps and timelines involved.  For those human services organizations who have not requested funding in the past, but are considering doing so for Fiscal Year 2020-2021, please contact Teresa McDaniel in Human/Social Services at 540-853-2372 or [email protected].  As in past years, funding applications will be submitted on-line through the United Way's e-cImpact system with this budget year's deadline being noon, on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.

More information about the application process is available here.

If you have questions about the overall budget process, please contact R.B. Lawhorn, Budget Manager for the City of Roanoke, at 853-1643 or [email protected].
