[ARCHIVED] ‘Trojan Dog’ to Return from His Vet Visit

On Friday, May 24, the “Trojan Dog,” Roanoke’s four-legged friend, will take up temporary residence at the Raleigh Court Branch Library until the completion of the new Fire Station 7, after which he will once again stand guard at that location. The dog, a fixture in Raleigh Court since 2010, received a new protective coat and a few small repairs while at 4 DD Designs, the original fabricators.

According to Susan Jennings, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Roanoke, “Local artist Ann Glover created the dog in 2010 for the Art in Roanoke temporary art show. He quickly gained popularity, prompting the Raleigh Court Civic League to apply for a neighborhood grant to make the Grandin area of Roanoke his permanent home.”
