Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates meeting

On June 13, 2003, City Council reconstituted the Roanoke Neighborhood Partnership Steering Committee as the Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates.
Members include citizens representing the interests of the neighborhood organizations, the private sector, businesses, and nonprofit service organizations.
Seven of the 13 members are appointed by City Council with the remaining 6 seats selected by the RNA appointees. Appointment to the RNA is for 3 years.
Goals of the RNA include:
1) advising City Council and City administration concerning existing and proposed public policy affecting the vitality of neighborhoods and neighborhood groups,
2) informing neighborhood groups of existing and proposed public policy plus courses of action available to assure that policies support neighborhoods and neighborhood groups ,
3) advising and assisting neighborhood groups in building their organization's capacities,
4) educating the public regarding policy implications for neighborhoods
