Valley Metro Announces VMGO

Valley Metro has announced its new Real-time Transit Passenger Information (RTPI) service VMGO. This service will provide real-time bus stop departure times via a smartphone, personal computer, and by calling a dedicated landline phone number. Find out more about this new service here.

Website Provides Information on Police Chief Search

The search process for a new Police Chief has begun. Information to keep the public informed of the process and of the steps along the way is posted on the City’s website, including documents such as the Request for Proposals and a preliminary outline of the recruitment process. Future postings will include a survey, the recruitment brochure, and the list of interview panel members.  The City will use email notifications and social media posts to let citizens know when new information has been updated on the site. City, Local Groups to Plant Trees Along Greenway

On Saturday, Sept. 28, Urban Forestry staff in the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will partner with Trees Roanoke, the Roanoke Tree Stewards, and Novozymes to plant trees along the Roanoke River Greenway in southeast Roanoke. Trees Roanoke, a local nonprofit with a mission to help replace trees on City property, purchased the trees with funds raised in 2018. Click here to read more.
