Roanoke Kicks Off Welcoming Week
The City of Roanoke and local partners are hosting a series of community events to participate in Welcoming America’s national Welcoming Week campaign between Sept. 13 and Sept. 22. City officials and other community members attended the kickoff of Roanoke’s Welcoming Week today (Friday, Sept. 13), at the Roanoke City Market Building in downtown Roanoke. Nominations for Neighborhood Partnership Awards are Open
The Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates (RNA) and Roanoke City Council have opened nominations for the citywide Neighborhoods Partnership Awards. This program recognizes and honors the outstanding contributions, excellence, and accomplishments achieved by neighborhood organizations and civic individuals who have partnered with city departments, schools, nonprofits, businesses, institutions, and others as follows:
- To make physical and/or social improvements to our neighborhoods;
- To connect neighbors and/or neighborhoods with one another; and/or
- To build the capacity of their neighborhood organization to better serve our community.

How to Watch City Council Meetings
Did you know … even if you aren’t able to attend City Council meetings you can still watch them “live”? The meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of the month at 2 p.m. Roanoke Valley Television Cox Channel 3 cablecasts City Council meetings “live”; and the City livestreams City Council meetings through its Facebook page.
