City Renames Library, Park
On Feb. 19, Roanoke City Council voted to change the name of the Jackson Park Branch Library to the Belmont Branch Library, and the name of Jackson Park to Belmont Park. Click here to read the full news release.
Parks and Recreation to Open New Section of Greenway
On Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m., the city will celebrate the official opening of a new section of the Roanoke River Greenway at 3304 Aerial Way Dr. This new, half-mile stretch is one more piece toward complete connectivity throughout the Roanoke Valley. Click here to read more about this event.
Learn About Roanoke’s Science Water Monitoring Program
The Roanoke Stormwater Division, Clean Valley Council, and the Upper Roanoke River Roundtable have partnered to create a Citizen Science Water Monitoring Program. Youth Mini-Summit Coming in March
Middle school and high school students at Roanoke City Public Schools, mark your calendars for the Youth Mini-Summit on March 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Lucy Addison Middle School. Sponsored by Roanoke Youth Services, this Summit will focus on preparing students for summer job opportunities. Lunch will be included in this event.
