Main Library to Host Google Training
The Grow with Google initiative is coming to Roanoke on Monday, March 4, at the Main Library from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event is free and will offer training and tools for attendees to grow their digital skills. Attendees are welcome to drop in for a few sessions or stay all day. Space will be limited, so please register in advance at g.co/GrowVirginia.
Leadership College Begins in March
Registration is open for the 2018 Leadership College. Starting March 21, classes will be held on Thursday evenings for nine weeks at the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building in Room 159 from 6 to 9 p.m. The program is free, but seating is limited. Register online at roanokeva.gov/leadershipcollege or call 853-1647.
City Receives Snowfighting Award
The Public Works Department recently received the Salt Institute’s Safe and Sustainable Snowfighting Award. Roanoke has won this award every year since 2012. We are among 55 winter maintenance facilities across the United States and Canada recognized with the award. Recipients must meet or exceed nearly 70 different criteria. Roanoke Fire-EMS Launches Recruitment Campaign
Roanoke Fire-EMS is hiring through March 1, and has launched a recruitment campaign – "I Am Roanoke Fire-EMS" – to introduce the public to members of their family. For the next month Fire-EMS will highlight some of its firefighters, along with the different tasks that they do at the Fire-EMS Department, on its Facebook page.
