Digital Cities Survey 2021 Recognizes City of Roanoke

This week, the Center for Digital Government announced the winners of the 2021 Digital Cities Survey, recognizing cities utilizing technology to tackle social challenges, enhance services, strengthen cybersecurity, and more. The City of Roanoke was recognized among the top 10 cities in the 75,000-124,999 population category, and for its commitment and dedication to participating in the survey since it began in 2001. City Libraries to Participate in VDH Pilot Program Distributing COVID-19 Antigen Test Kits

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) recently announced its partnership with 18 libraries and library systems across the Commonwealth to distribute COVID-19 rapid antigen at-home test kits at no cost. Roanoke Public Libraries is among the participating libraries. Its library branches will begin distributing the kits starting Nov. 17, at all six branches during regular business hours through the pilot program deadline of Dec. 31. To learn more, click here

City to Conduct Citizen Survey

Beginning the week of Nov. 22, the City of Roanoke will conduct a Citizen Survey administered by Issues & Answers, a marketing research firm hired by the City. Participants will be selected at random using national call databases. Responses to the survey questions will be compiled and used to identify areas where improvement is needed for Roanoke’s local government, as well as to celebrate areas of success. Solid Waste Collection Changes for Thanksgiving Week

City offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25 and 26, for Thanksgiving holidays. As a result, the schedule for collection of trash, bulk items, and “A” week recycling during that week will change. See the revised collection schedule here. For more information, call 853-2000, option 1.
