Virginia Redistricting Commission Seeks Public Input for Development of Election District Maps

Beginning on Monday, Oct. 4, the Virginia Redistricting Commission will host a series of virtual public hearings for the various regions across Virginia. During these hearings, members of the public will have the chance to share their thoughts on the election district maps being developed by the Commission. More details are available here.

Treasurer's Office Closes Tuesday and Thursday Afternoons in October to Prepare for New System

Beginning Oct. 7, 2021, through Oct. 26, 2021, the City of Roanoke Treasurer’s Office will be closed to the public on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12 to 5 p.m.  During these closings, as well as on evenings and weekends, Treasurer’s Office employees will receive training for a new tax and treasury system, and test the system in preparation for its launch. Vaccinate Virginia logoCOVID-19 Vaccine News

RCAHD has announced a Community Vaccine Center will open at the former Sears location at Valley View Mall, located at 4812 Valley View Blvd. The Center is projected to open on Oct. 14, and will offer free COVID-19 vaccination appointments from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.  While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins also will be accepted.

Appointments for a free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine booster shot are available to any Virginian 65 years old and older, or those over 18 with underlying medical conditions or who live or work in a high risk setting, and who received the second dose of their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine six months or more ago.   In addition, individuals seeking their first dose of Johnson and Johnson or their first or second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or those who are immunosuppressed and need a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine may also receive a vaccination at no cost.
