Nelson Selected as Economic Development Department Director
Marc B. Nelson has been named Director of the Economic Development Department for the City of Roanoke, effective July 13, 2021. His selection was part of a national search, which yielded 40 applications for the position. Read more here.
USDA Summer Food Service Program Begins

City to Display 2021 Fireworks on July 3
The City will conduct its 2021 fireworks display on Saturday, July 3, at 9 p.m. over the fields at River’s Edge North. The display will occur one day early this year in an effort to give first responders and public safety officers the opportunity to spend the July 4 holiday with their families. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited staff’s ability to anticipate and plan for this display, a centralized event for public viewing of the fireworks will not be held. More information is here.
