Catchy Jingles Capture Spirit of Roanoke Cigarette Butt Campaign
The City of Roanoke’s Stormwater Utility, Clean Valley Council, Downtown Roanoke Inc., the Roanoke Arts Commission, Keep Virginia Beautiful, and the Solid Waste Management Division announced the winners of the Clean Streets Jingle Competition. Grier Named Roanoke’s Deputy City Manager
At the April 19 City Council meeting, City Manager Bob Cowell announced that Clarence G. Grier has been named Deputy City Manager for the City of Roanoke. Following the retirement of Deputy City Manager Sherman Stovall in June 2021, Grier will assume the responsibility of managing and directing City departments, public safety agencies, and programs based on general direction and policy of the City Manager and City Council. E-911 Center Announces 2021 Telecommunicator of the Year
On April 12, the E-911 Center announced that Daniel Hobbes has been selected as the 2021 Telecommunicator of the Year. Because COVID-19 restrictions limited the ability to recognize the winner of the award in 2020, the E-911 Center also recognized Kala Gilbert as the 2020 Telecommunicator of the Year. Both Dan and Kala received a plaque and special recognition from the E-911 staff. In addition, Michelle Tringali received a Service and Dedication award, recognizing her work in the E-911 Center. This recognition was part of the celebration of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, April 11-17. Public safety communications officers in the City’s E-911 Center were honored throughout the week.
