Federal Paycheck Protection Program Reopens

The U.S. Small Business Administration has reopened the federal Paycheck Protection Program, the forgivable loan to help businesses survive during COVID-19. Applications must be submitted to a bank or other lender, not directly to the SBA. Previous recipients are eligible for a second loan.  Click here for more information

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

The Virginia Department of Health continues to vaccinate residents in Phase 1A, and has begun to vaccinate those in Phase 1B. On Jan. 14, the Governor expanded eligibility for Phase 1B to include residents over the age of 65 and those with serious medical conditions. The response of eligible residents wanting the vaccination has been overwhelming, and VDH is working hard to receive enough doses to keep up with the demand. However, they have not yet received a large enough supply of vaccine doses to accommodate everyone in this Phase.

VDH asks for your patience as the vaccination process unfolds. More clinics are coming, and VDH is committed to see that everyone who wants a vaccine gets one.  The best way to stay up to date on local vaccine distribution is to follow the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts’ Facebook page or listen to local media outlets for updated information.
