BFC_Bronze_Seal_2020League of American Bicyclists Names City of Roanoke a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community

This week, the League of American Bicyclists honored the efforts of the City of Roanoke to build better places for people to bike with a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community award. The City of Roanoke joins 485 communities across the country in the movement for safer streets and better bicycling for everyone. To celebrate the award, the City of Roanoke, along with the RIDE Solutions commuter assistance program, has designed a self-guided Bicycle Friendly Roanoke tour, highlighting many of the City's most recent accomplishments in making the community a safer place for people to cycle. City Plan 2040 to Be Adopted as Roanoke’s Comprehensive Plan

City Plan 2040 will be on City Council’s Dec. 21 agenda for adoption as the City's Comprehensive Plan, to replace Vision 2001-2020, which was adopted in 2001. City Plan 2040 will guide investment and decision making in Roanoke over the next 20 years. The plan recommends policies and actions that work together to achieve a specific vision for our City. Lamp Post SMALLSolid Waste Collection to Stay on Regular Schedule for Holiday Weeks

City offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas Day holiday. Trash, "B week" recycling, bulk and brush collection will remain on the regular schedule for the entire week.

City offices also will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day holiday.  Trash, "A week" recycling, bulk and brush collection will remain on the regular schedule for the entire week.
