City Announces Leaf Collection Schedule

leaves SMALL
City residents received postcards in the mail this week reminding them of the dates for leaf collection this year:

  • Nov. 16-19
  • Nov. 30-Dec. 3
  • Dec. 7-10
  • Dec. 14-17
Please note:
  • Only biodegradable paper bags will be collected
  • Plastic bags will not be collected
  • No leaf collection the week of Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving)

E-911 Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment

The City of Roanoke E-911 Center is scheduled for a virtual on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve reaccreditation by verifying its professional standards. As part of the assessment, members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling 540-853-5485 on Tuesday, Nov. 17, between 1 and 3 p.m. The Assessment Team assigned to Roanoke’s agency will be taking telephone comments during those hours. Virginia Center for Innovative Technology, City Partner on Flood Sensors

The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), has collaborated with the City of Roanoke in a flood sensor project. CIT has identified Roanoke as an ideal location for flood sensors in Virginia, based on the history of flooding throughout the valley, and the City’s existing flood resiliency efforts. Read more here.
