DMV Select at Municipal Building Moving to Appointment-Only Services
Effective Tuesday, Sept. 1, walk-up service for DMV Select in the City Treasurer’s Office at the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building will be discontinued, and services will be offered by appointment only. This change is necessary to address the overwhelming volume of transactions experienced by staff in the Treasurer’s Office as the result of the limited hours of operation at local DMV locations in response to COVID-19. Artists to Paint Stormwater Inlets at Locations in the City
The Roanoke Arts Commission and the City’s Stormwater Utility is partnering again to transform six storm drains in the City of Roanoke into works of art. The six inlet art locations will be along Melrose Avenue NW, Colonial Avenue SW, Garden City Boulevard SE, Ferncliff Avenue NW, Midvale Avenue, and Indian Village Lane SE. COVID-19 Recovery Funds Application Period Now Open
The application period for the City of Roanoke Star City Strong COVID-19 Recovery Funds is now open. The funding includes grants for small businesses and non-profits that incurred expenses due to the COVID-19 Pandemic response. Additional assistance for individuals with unpaid bills meeting certain income limits is also available. The first review of applications for business assistance will begin Sept. 30, 2020. COVID-19 Recovery Task Force Offers Help for Families With Children Learning Virtually
Recognizing that families will be impacted in helping their children learn virtually due to COVID-19, the City of Roanoke has created a task force to collaborate with a variety of local organizations that would be able to host programs to assist families during the school day.
