City Proclaims 2020 'The Year of Color, Light, and Motion' in Honor of Gillespie
The Taubman Museum of Art is hosting a special exhibit through July 26—Celestial Centennial: The Art and Legacy of Dorothy Gillespie—in honor of the 100th anniversary of the renowned artist's Roanoke birth. The exhibit was funded in part by a City grant through the Roanoke Arts Commission. On, July 3, the Museum released a video proclamation read by Vice-Mayor Joe Cobb, designating 2020 as “The Year of Color, Light, and Motion,” in honor of Ms. Gillespie’s career and body of work.
Star City Strong Recovery Fund Task Force to Hold Public Input Meeting
Would you like to help the City decide how to spend about $5 million? Well, now’s your chance! The City has identified funds to support the community in its efforts for recovery from COVID-19-related issues, and to bolster its long-term resiliency to similar disruptions. Funding will come from a combination of local and federal funds set aside for COVID-19 responses. On Tuesday, July 14, at 7 p.m., the Star City Strong Recovery Task Force will host a public comment opportunity for citizens to share their thoughts about how the money should be spent. DMV Select Adjusts Hours at Municipal Building
DMV Select, located in the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building, has adjusted its operating hours. Customers may now utilize DMV Select services Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to Noon. More information can be found here.
