Solid Waste Collection Schedule Changes for Memorial Day Week
As a result of the Memorial Day holiday on May 25, all residential/commercial solid waste collection (including, recycling, bulk, and brush) will be delayed one day. Read more here.
Signal Equipment, Timing Improvements Completed for Downtown
Have you noticed anything new when walking or driving downtown? The City’s traffic engineers and technicians recently completed signal equipment and signal timing improvements in downtown Roanoke. These changes are intended to improve traffic flow, minimize traffic delays, and make crossing the street easier by providing a leading green pedestrian signal. Public Pools to Be Closed for the 2020 Summer Season
This week the City announced that Fallon Park and Washington Park public pools will be closed for the 2020 summer season (May-August). This decision was based on ongoing limitations associated with COVID-19, as well as financial constraints. Click here for more information.
City Cancels 2020 'Fireworks on the Fourth' Celebration
The City of Roanoke has cancelled its 2020 "Fireworks on the Fourth" celebration. By making this decision, Roanoke joins many other communities in our area that are cancelling events out of an abundance of caution, and in light of COVID-19 concerns associated with large gatherings. The City is hopeful that 2021 will see a return of the fireworks celebration.
