City Extends Business and Personal Property Tax Deadlines
In response to challenges residents and businesses may experience in paying taxes during the COVID-19 health crisis, the City is offering temporary tax relief by extending the deadline for Business and Personal Property Tax payments by one month. Details are available here.
Valley Metro Temporarily Suspends Fare Collections, Limits Number of Passengers on Buses
In order to encourage the practice of social distancing while using transit, Valley Metro has suspended fare collections on all Valley Metro transit services from Friday, March 27, until Friday, April 24. Read more here.
In addition, effective April 9 Valley Metro will limit the number of passengers on buses to a maximum of nine passengers at any one time. More information can be found here.
2020 Census is Underway
April 1 was the official launch for the 2020 Census. Your response shapes decisions about how public funds are spent for our schools, fire and emergency services, and healthcare in Roanoke and in Southwest Virginia. Citizens Invited to Review TMDL Action Plans
The City of Roanoke is required under the Municipal Stormwater Sewer System (MS4) Permit to create a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) to reduce pollutant loads in impaired water bodies. The Sediment and Bacteria TMDL Action Plan and PCB TMDL Action Plan outline what the City will do over the next five years of the permit cycle to reduce pollutants such as PCBs, sediment, and bacteria from entering our waterways. Citizens are invited to take a look, make suggestions, and provide feedback. This is your opportunity to be part of the solution and leave a Clean Water Legacy.
