City Response to Coronavirus

In an abundance of caution, the City of Roanoke has cancelled non-essential events for City Libraries and Parks and Recreation for the next 30 days. The City is urging residents and visitors to educate themselves regarding Coronavirus COVID-19. A website has been established at www.roanokeva.gov/coronavirus, where you can find links to the most up-to-date information regarding the virus. Read more about the City’s response here.

St. Patrick's Day Parade, Shamrock Festival Cancelled

In response to concerns of community spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the State of Emergency issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Downtown Roanoke, Inc. (DRI) and its Board of Directors made the decision to cancel the 2020 Freedom First St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival.  More information is available here

2020 Census Starts This Week

Invitations to respond to the 2020 Census will start arriving in mailboxes across the Country this week. Once you receive the invitation, you can respond online, by phone, or by mail. Census questions are available in English and 12 additional languages, covering the language needs of 99 percent of all households. All responses are confidential and protected by law. Robertson to Serve as Assistant City Manager for Community Development

W. Brent Robertson has been named Assistant City Manager for Community Development, replacing Brian Townsend upon his retirement at the end of June 2020. Read more here.
