Leaders Announce Roanoke C.A.R.E. Initiative

This week, leaders from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, City of Roanoke Police Department, and Roanoke City Public Schools, joined U.S. Attorney Thomas Cullen in announcing the formation of Roanoke C.A.R.E.  This acronym stands for the Coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and partners Acting together to more effectively investigate, and prosecute crimes to Reduce the number of shootings, violent crimes, and gang activity in the City of Roanoke, and to Educate both the school and broader community about the dangers of gun violence and gang life. Results of Police Chief Recruitment Survey Available

The survey to invite public input for the Police Chief Recruitment process closed on Friday, Oct. 11.  The results of the survey, along with a summary of representative stakeholder conversations and City Council conversations, and other related information are available on the City’s website

Main Library to Offer ‘Trick or Treating' Events

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the public is invited to “Trick or Treat” at the Main Library at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 10:30 a.m. time will be for families and young children, and the 3 p.m. time will be for teens. Stations will be posted around the library for everyone to grab treats. This event is free. Click here to see the Facebook event page.
