Getting a Library Card

It's easy to get a library card. Any resident of Virginia, age 5 and older, may get a free library card that can be used at any Roanoke Area Public Library. You will need photo identification with your current name and address or photo identification and 1 other piece of identification that has your name and current address. Children do not need photo identification to get a library card but do need proof of name and current address. A parent's or guardian's signature is required for children younger than age 13.

Go to any public library branch location in Roanoke, Roanoke County, Salem, or Botetourt County, fill out a simple form, and your card can be issued right away. You can also print out a library card application that can be filled out and brought in with you to speed up the card application process.
