Emergency Management

The goal of Emergency Management is to aid the community in mitigating, preparing for, responding to, recovering from natural and man-made emergencies and disasters that could affect the citizens, businesses and visitors of the City of Roanoke.

Emergency Management works with local, state and federal government partners, as well as non-governmental organizations to achieve this goal. Emergency Management maintains the city’s Emergency Operations Center, is an active partner with the Roanoke Valley Local Emergency Planning Committee and participates in regular exercises to test and continuously revise the city’s Emergency Operations Plan to insure a state of constant readiness.
Prepare today: register yourself, your family or your business if you have any special need or consideration that community responders should know prior to a disaster or emergency, follow the instructions under the Emergency Needs Registry link to let us know if you have any communications limitations, critical medical needs, or your business is at high risk or houses vulnerable populations.  Make sure every family member or employee registers their phone with our Reverse 9-1-1 Center!  This serve allows our dispatch center to reverse call land line and registered cell phones to receive critical information during disasters and emergencies including information on evacuation.
