The City of Roanoke provides the following steps for disposal of “sharp” materials such as:
- Lancets
- Needles
- Syringes
- Other sharp objects
How to Dispose of Sharps
Sharps shall be placed for collection in an opaque plastic container, such as an empty bleach container, an empty milk container or an empty carbonated beverage container which is tightly sealed with a lid. Such lid shall be taped closed.
Before setting sharps out for collection, the container in which they are stored shall be marked with indelible ink, "Sharps" on at least two sides of the container.
