National Council of Family and Juvenile Court Judges (NCJFCJ)

Roanoke City Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court was selected as an Implementation Site for the National Council of Family and Juvenile Court Judges (NCJFCJ).  As an Implementation Site, Roanoke City is encouraged and supported by NCJFCJ to make positive changes that reflect NCJFCJ’s best practices in child dependency cases.  As part of this project our team has focused, in part, on engaging youth in child dependency hearings.  NCJFCJ stresses that there should be no decision “about them, without them.”  Our team agrees!  We have created a video for children who may be coming to court to introduce them to the courthouse and the individuals they might encounter while here.  We hope that this video helps alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that children may experience.  Please feel free to share this video with anyone you think may be interested!!
