Purpose:
To operate a publicly owned conference center in the City of Roanoke adjacent to a renovated Hotel Roanoke and that they should unite in its formation, then a commission known as the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center Commission shall thereupon exist, and such Commission shall exercise its powers and functions as prescribed in the Act.
Chapter 440 - 1991 Acts of Assembly…to provide for the organization of a conference center commission as a political subdivision and public body corporate and politic of the Commonwealth of Virginia; the Hotel Roanoke.
NOTE: See Resolution No. 30963-041392, creating the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center Commission; and Resolution No. 30964-041392, appointing Commissioners to the Hotel Roanoke Conference Center Commission, and providing that after the initial term, each Commissioner shall be appointed for a four year term or until his successor is appointed and qualified; and Resolution No. 36209-012103 providing that the City’s representatives will consist of a current member of City Council, either the City Manager or another City employee, and a citizen at large.
