Purpose:

The City Planning Commission advises and assists City Council in promoting the orderly development of the City. The commission develops the plans and ordinances to guide future growth and serves as a sounding board for City Council in matters related to development issues. The commission reviews and makes recommendations to City Council on proposed amendments to the City's land development regulations (rezonings and zoning text amendments), street and alley closure requests and short and long-range plans.

Members must be City residents pursuant to Section 36.1-612, Code of the City of Roanoke (1979), as amended.
