Planning Commission   
Considers zoning changes (rezonings), amendments to the zoning ordinance, and adoption of plans for the city. Get has information on members, active applications, meeting dates, deadlines, application information and forms.  The Commission does not make final decisions; it makes recommendations to City Council, which makes final decisions.
Board of Zoning Appeals Considers special exceptions, zoning variances, and appeals of decisions by the zoning administrator.  Get information on active applications, meeting dates, deadlines, members, application information and forms.  The board makes final decisions on applications.  Decisions can be appealed to Circuit Court.
Architectural Review Board Administers the historic district regulations adopted by City Council to protect the Gainsboro, Old Southwest, and Downtown neighborhoods.  The Board reviews new construction, alterations of existing structures, and demolition of structures for consistency with adopted architectural design guidelines. 
Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates       
Advises City Council and City administration concerning existing and proposed public policies affecting the vitality of neighborhoods and neighborhood organizations, and partners with the Office of Neighborhood Services by assisting neighborhood organizations with the building of their organizational, administrative, and advocacy capacities
Fair Housing Board A resource to help you understand federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to fair housing.
Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals  Considers appeals of decisions by the building official on interpretations of the building code. The board makes final decisions.  Decisions can be appealed to a state board.
