Business License Verification

When a business has a new physical location within the City of Roanoke, getting a license is a two-step process that starts with a review to ensure the new business location complies with state building safety codes and local zoning codes. Once this step is the completed, the Commissioner of the Revenue will issue the license. Business license verifications are conducted for both commercial businesses and home occupations.

If the new business is different from the previous business in the space, a change of use may be triggered. We will review our records to determine if there is a change of use. If there is a change of use, a new Certificate of Occupancy may be required and there may be requirements to modify the space to accommodate the requirements of the new business use.

Fees

There are no fees assessed for the verification.
